Backstage and Beyond: 45 Years of Classic Rock, Chats and Rants
Jim Sullivan is a veteran Boston-based writer who covered music and pop culture for the Boston Globe, roaming that turf for 26 years. He currently freelances for WBUR, the Forward and Rock and Roll Globe, among other outlets. Last year, Trouser Press Books published two volumes of his Backstage and Beyond: 45 Years of Rock Chats and Rants. Individual chapters focus on specific artists or bands, stories culled from past encounters, remade and remodeled. They’re divided roughly into “classic” – artists who started from the 50s to mid-70s – and then “modern,” mid-70s on, meaning sorta pre-punk/new wave and punk/post-punk/new wave. Jim will be reading parts of several chapters at the Harvard Library and hosting a Q/A following.
Jim Sullivan has been writing about Rock and Roll at the Boston Globe for nearly 40 years.
