9/11 First Responder Captain Brenda Berkman

On Thursday, March 7, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall, the public is invited to a talk by Captain Brenda Berkman, a retired New York City firefighter. As part of Women's History Month, Berkman will speak about being the named plaintiff in the lawsuit that won females the right to be NYC firefighters, her experience as a first responder on 9/11, and her work as an artist after she retired. Earlier in the day she will also speak to groups of Bromfield students. Berkman's visit to Harvard is the result of an invitation from Bromfield history teacher Kathleen Doherty and a grant from the Harvard Schools Trust.
