Community Drum Circle with Ammaya Dance & Drum

Drum Circle
Tue., 8/6/24 4:00 pm
registration required
Ammaya Dance Drum will bring 2 drummers and a dancer to the library for a free-flowing community drum circle with some dancing on the side.

If you have a heartbeat, you can drum! For millennia, drumming has brought people together in community to create peace, health and wellness. The uplifting rhythms of Africa relieve stress and help people connect with each other, as well as their own joy. The drummers of Ammaya Dance & Drum encourage participants to jam out and express their rhythms creatively. They also teach the basics of hand drumming and traditional rhythms from Mali and Guinea, West Africa. Participants will learn simple rhythms on the djembe and dun dun drums, and play
together as an ensemble. People can also learn an African song along with the drumming. The drum circle emphasizes community, self-expression and the joy of rhythm. Drums provided and no experience necessary.

Registration is required! Attendance is limited to 25 total attendees.
