Story Times
~
No storytimes during school vacation weeks ~


Infant Storytime ~ Mother Goose on the Loose (no sign-up) – Ages 0 – 2:  Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays at 10:30
Mother Goose on the Loose is an early literacy program that uses rhymes and songs to help pre-reading children get ready for reading. It incorporates music, movement, ritual, repetition, positive reinforcement, developmental tips, nursery rhymes, illustrations, puppets, musical instruments, colored scarves, and book reading into a fun-filled 45 minute session for infants to 2-year-olds and their caregivers.

Storytime for 2’s & 3’s (5 week session ~ pre-registration required) – Ages 2 & 3:  Mondays at 10:30
This 20 to 30 minute interactive theme-based storytime includes songs, simple stories, feltboard stories, creative dramatics, and fingerplays appropriate for children aged 2 & 3 years old. Register now for the next 5 week session; that session begins on 9/20/10 and runs through 10/25/10 . Pre-registration required: Limit of 12 children and their caregivers.

Preschool/Kindergarten Storytime (no sign-up required) – Ages 4 – 7:  Thursdays at 2:00
This 30 to 45 minute program, appropriate for children ages 4 to 7 , consists of quiet and interactive stories, songs, and fingerplays, with three special activities that rotate weekly: storytelling with guest visits from the library’s puppets; feltboard stories; and process art projects that encourage preschoolers to explore art materials in an open-ended, creative manner. 

Saturday Storytimes (no sign-up required) – Ages 4 to 7: Saturdays, beginning September 25, at 11:00
Teen volunteers lead these fun drop-in, half-hour Saturday Storytimes for children ages 4 to 7 and their caregivers.

Family Movie Night!  All Ages:  Friday, October 1 at
6:30 PM
Popcorn and water will be served.  Please pre-register, so we know how much popcorn to buy!


Lego Club – Ages 5 and up:  Saturday, September 25 from 1:30 to 3:00 PM
Come have fun building Lego creations with other Harvard Lego fans!  Participants should bring their own Lego bricks with them for construction purposes. Creative building is encouraged, and various Lego books will be available for inspiration. Parents are encouraged to join in with the construction & assist with supervision. Please pre-register.

The 3rd Grade Book is: Lady Lollipop by Dick King-Smith.  The 4th Grade Book is: Dominic by William Steig.  The 5th Grade Book is: Five Children and It by E. Nesbit.  The 6th Grade Book is: 100 Cupboards by N.D. Wilson.  Join this once-monthly book group for a lively book discussion and a yummy afternoon snack of bagels and cream cheese.  Book group members should read all of the book prior to the group meeting.  New members are always welcome ~ please pre-register, and we will reserve a copy of the book for you.


Teen Book Groups – Grades 7 – 9 and Grades 10 – 12: Tuesday, October 5 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM
Both groups will meet on Tuesday, October 5 from 4:30 to 5:30 , but each group will read and discuss a different book.
New members are always welcome ~ please pre-register, and we will reserve a copy of the book for you.

Teen Advisory Board (TAB) – Grades 7 to 12:  Tuesday, September 28 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM
Get involved in what’s happening at the library!  Participate and share ideas for books, magazines, DVDs, music CDs, and future programs and activities.  Must be a Bromfield student or Harvard resident in Grades 7 to 12 and must commit to attend approximately one meeting per month, usually on Tuesdays in the late afternoon/evening.
